Our Processes

Remington Firewood manufactures and sells green, seasoned, and kiln-dried firewood in Northern Virginia. Local tree and landscape businesses bring us their wood debris for us to dispose of. Based on species and wood grade, we separate logs to be processed into firewood instead of being trucked out and ground into mulch. This dramatically reduces our carbon footprint, because every log that is processed into firewood is material that never has to be trucked up and down the highway.

We cut our firewood with a 100% electric, European processing system that is extremely safe, efficient, and eco-friendly. This machine allows us to produce more beautiful, clean firewood than any other supplier in Virginia. After the wood is cut and split, the wood is tumbled to separate bark, scraps, and mulch from the cleaned, finished product.

Wood that will be sold as seasoned is stacked with an excavator in a tall wind-row pile, which will again be tumbled once more before it is loaded into a delivery truck.

Kiln-dried firewood is processed directly into our specially-designed steel baskets, which are then loaded into one of our two kiln dryers. These kilns kill all bugs, eliminate mold, and reduce the moisture content of the wood to 8-12%. Most logs enter the yard with a moisture content ranging from 30-60%, and once this process is complete the wood is ready to be sold as USDA certified firewood, which is extremely easy and pleasant to burn.

Our Springfield yard is home to our wood processing site. Here we offer a variety of wholesale firewood. We can also deliver right to your driveway. Please note that our delivery service is dumped only, no stacking provided. For stacking inquiries, please contact our Springfield office at 571-565-3565, and we will put you in contact with stacking services.

Recycled Wood and Why It Matters

Using recycled wood to make firewood provides great value to the Northern Virginia community, and is much better for the environment than using wood from irresponsible loggers, who contribute to the deforestation of our land.

In our model, we save wood that would otherwise be ground into mulch. The mulch process consists of being loaded onto a truck, run through a tub grinder two times, re-loaded onto a truck, and returned to market. This process burns diesel fuel every step of the way, and every log that we remove from this process for firewood, instead never leaves the market, and gets processed through our electric firewood factory.
